The Return of Innovation Alphie

This year the M•CAM International team has been working diligently on launching our Innovation α® methodology and algorithms into a new space. This new space will enable the public to participate in support of the role proprietary innovation plays in the markets. We thought that through M•CAM AIR, Innovation Alphie would be a fun and creative way to extend our reach in communicating the subject matter that sits between innovation, business, finance and the statutory threads that connects them. So check out what Alphie says on M•CAM’s Facebook page and the M•CAM AIR Instagram!

The Art of Kim Martin – Bee or Be?

The week before last M·CAM had a wonderful visit from Kim Martin. She presented to us a painting in progress which evolved to the finished and beautiful image presented here. When I look at this image I can not help but think of some of the ideas that are threaded through the underlying process that is applied in our algorithms and in the title of this post is a hint to the ideas that I’m eluding too or 2.

Welcome to Alchemy

M·CAM has had many changes this summer… and the most recent one I express here with M·CAM’s welcoming into our community our newest member, Qianfan Wu! He is here to help as our newest quantitative analyst in our distillation for excellence!

Manly P. Hall states that “Ramon Llully who was one the great early alchemists, once point out that the great tragedy of the concept of alchemy was the transmutation of metals.” This misconception continues to reverberate in the current collective conscious in the modern era.  Alchemy one of the protoscientific tradition practiced in the history of Europe, Asia and Africa inspired the curiosity of notable figures such as Isaac Newton and Carl Jung. And… in Leonardo Da Vinci’s illustration of “The Vitruvian Man” one can extrapolate the alchemical symbol depicted above of “The Squared Circle”, also known as the philosopher’s stone. The illustration above is an interpretation of this very symbol and the inspiration for it is this period at the end of this summer as we move into the months of fall. This is that it may reminds us of the golden thread that held true in alchemy holds true in today chemistry. This is that it has always been the study of change that demands a notion of purity some where held in the concept of rationalizing the irrational with conviction.

A Graphic Dialogue

From the beginning of my employment at M·CAM one thing became very clear, David Martin is always striving to align value and put its energy into play through Integral Accounting. And this post, along with all the other work we have done over years is a response in a much grander dialogue between communication and creativity.

By the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, the slide deck presentation format became a dominant mode of communications in the sale of ideas and products. For David, this medium was very natural for him. Because… when presenting empirical data to support a conclusion, …a montage of text, numbers, charts and symbols are used. Hence, David quickly enlisted my storyboard art abilities and skill set when I joined M·CAM as an analyst.

This image, evolved from a graphic David Martin had sent me in which the Integral Accounting principles are moved through the components of a carbon atom.

The Art of Niraj Shah

Niraj Shah is another talented artist at M·CAM. When he is not developing software, he develops his illustration skills by drawing portraits of his favorite soccer footballer’s. The illustrations above Niraj uses color pencil to render his portraits in a iconic style.  Starting left: Eric Cantona, Edgar Davids, Paul Pogba

The Art of David E. Martin

Innovation comes from experimentation and synthesizing through engagement. If the intention is pure, …then purer is the result.  The words are very important in these pictures. After all the art can not be patented if the invention was patented or described in a printed publication prior to it’s application. At the beginning of the year I told an archetypal story for our Q1 staff meeting. We recorded the meeting and sent it to David in order for him to sense the team’s cohesion. David listened to the whole recording which was approximately 3 hours in length. A week later David expressed the influence the story had impressed upon him. He said that it inspired him to engage in the experience of drawing. It had escaped his attention in development of his repertoire of talents we know him for today or did it?
